The Main Screen
The first time your start the software, it shows a screen to prompt you to setup Sign With Me. Once set up the screen pictured right opens up when you start the software.
From here you select the section to enter.
You can also select your vocablory from here. As sign usage varies across Australia, all signs are categorised by state usage, so you can select your state and the database sets itself to return only the relevant signs.
You can also opt to turn on/off Signed English filler words (such as did, has, or the). When you use the Signed English filler signs these sign appear outlined to distinguish them from AUSLAN signs.
Search / Browse by Category
The software contains over 30 Categories and Sub-Categories. You can veiw signs individually, from within a Sub-Category, or click "Print Cat" to produce sheets containing all the signs within a Category.
This section is very useful for making labels to put on objects, around the house or school, or for excusions/themed events where reminder sheets can be of immense benefit to teachers, parents and classroom helpers alike.
The category pages are also a great learning tool for parents and extended family. Adults normally acquire signs language categorically (Ie learn all food signs first then room of house etc). Sign With Me recognises this and allows users to print entire categories at once.
Search / Lookup
Type in one word, click Search and the software finds all the possible matches. Print the results for reference.
Text to Sign Conversion - Type in text and the software chooses the best sign for that word.
You can then change the label under an image by clicking on it. You can change the image by clicking on it as well, the software will show you any other images you could use from thte CD, or you can choose one from elsewhere on your computer, perhaps a digital photo you took of the object.
Learn By Level
Select a level from the tree and then the sign you wish to learn.
Test Me
Choose a level, or group of levels to be tested at. Click the word that matches the sign. Once you've played for a while, you can print out a certificate with your score. This one is very popular with the kids too!
