New Zealand Sign Language is it's own distinct language. Auslan (Australian Sign Language) is also.
While both have been influenced strongly by BSL (British Sign Language) and lately by ASL (American Sign Language), only NZSL has a Maouri componant and influences from New Zealands unique immigration and cultural mix.
Both NZSL and Auslan share the same fingerspelling alphabet used in BSL
